About Domestic Violence Intervention Program

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) was established in 1980, originating from the University of Iowa’s Women’s Resource and Action Center's initiative to combat domestic violence. Over the years, DVIP has expanded its services across multiple counties in Iowa, adapting to the evolving needs of the community. Notably, the organization has established Cooper’s House, a unique shelter for pets of victims, and recently completed a new emergency shelter to double its capacity.

Impact of DVIP

DVIP provides 24/7 emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence, including their pets. The organization has seen a significant increase in hotline calls and service requests, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, becoming a critical resource for victims across eight counties in Iowa.

Why Donate to DVIP?

Donations to DVIP support essential services for victims of domestic violence, including emergency shelter, advocacy, and recovery resources. With anticipated federal funding cuts, individual donations are vital to maintain and expand these services.
