Our Story

Mission Action has been a beacon of hope in the Mission District for over 40 years, beginning in 1982 to address urgent community needs, especially for Central American refugees. From humble beginnings in a church basement, the organization has grown to provide essential services such as housing, legal aid, and community organizing.

Our Impact

With a commitment to social justice, Mission Action has successfully placed 30 individuals and families in housing and shelter, prevented 80 deportations, and secured 4,000 living wage jobs for low-income workers.
