Our Story

In 1974, Marguerite Doleman was inspired to establish the Doleman Black Heritage Museum after delivering a powerful speech at North Hagerstown High School. With her husband’s support, she began collecting artifacts that celebrate the rich history and culture of the Black experience in Hagerstown and beyond. This personal collection has transformed into a dedicated museum, committed to preserving and honoring Black heritage.
