Our Story

The Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps was established in 1962 to meet the growing need for emergency medical services in the village. Originating from the Dobbs Ferry Community Hospital's ambulance service, DFVAC purchased its first ambulance as the hospital-based service ceased operations. The founding members envisioned a community-run, volunteer-based service ready to respond to emergencies. Over the years, DFVAC has expanded its fleet and volunteer base to meet the increasing demand for assistance.

Our Impact

For over 50 years, the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps has provided essential standby services to the village, school district, and event organizers at no cost. With over 10,000 calls for assistance answered, DFVAC has trained hundreds of New York State Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B), ensuring a well-prepared community.
