The Dance Institute of Washington (DIW) was founded by Fabian Barnes to provide dance education and opportunities to youth, particularly those from underrepresented communities. This organization is dedicated to increasing diversity and representation in the dance industry while promoting racial and economic equity.

DIW has significantly transformed the lives of youth in Washington, D.C. by providing access to world-class dance training and educational resources. The organization has received numerous awards and grants, including a $1,000,000 Community Project Funding grant from the Department of Education.
