Our Story

Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence in 2018, Disaster Assistance Relief Teams of Wilmington (Dart-ILM) has been dedicated to restoring homes and lives in the Whitestocking neighborhood of Burgaw, North Carolina. By June 2019, Dart-ILM was already involved in 15 home restoration projects, collaborating with Rebuilding Together of the Triangle (RTT) and volunteer groups from churches across the nation. A significant milestone was reached on September 14, 2019, when Dart-ILM organized a workday that covered 12 projects with over 100 volunteers, including 25 plumbers and support from the Salvation Army Food Truck.

Impact

To date, Dart-ILM has assisted 16 families with grant funding exceeding half a million dollars, playing a crucial role in the recovery of the Whitestocking neighborhood.
