Our Story

The Disability Community Resource Center (DCRC) was founded in 1976 in Los Angeles by a group of friends with disabilities who envisioned a center for independent living. Originally named the Westside Center for Independent Living, DCRC has overcome numerous challenges, including the loss of its first Executive Director and a devastating fire. With unwavering community support, DCRC has thrived, relocating to a new accessible building and rebranding in 2017 to better reflect its mission. Today, DCRC serves a diverse population, providing essential programs and services tailored to the evolving needs of individuals with disabilities.

Impact

In the past year, DCRC has positively impacted over 3,000 individuals, assisting them in accessing income and medical benefits, peer support, personal care management, affordable housing, and employment skills.
