Our Story
Heritage Health was born from the vision and determination of Lidwin Dirne, who witnessed the tragic consequences of inadequate healthcare access. After the untimely death of her neighbor, Mary Ellen, a single mother with disabilities, Lidwin was inspired to take action. In 1985, she established Lake City Health Care, a volunteer-run clinic that quickly became a lifeline for those in need. As demand surged, the clinic evolved, becoming the Dirne Community Health Center in 1999 and later a federally qualified health center in 2003. Today, Heritage Health continues Lidwin's legacy, serving nearly 30,000 patients across North Idaho, ensuring that everyone has access to essential healthcare services.
