Founded in 2001 by Dr. Nicole Steele and a dedicated team, Diamond In The Rough Youth Development Inc began as a mentoring initiative called Sister To Sister. This program, which started at The Eastside Carver Boys & Girls Club in East Atlanta, has evolved into a global movement impacting the lives of girls through transformative experiences. With the launch of the first Gem Camp in 2003, DITR has grown to serve nearly 10,000 girls and families directly and over 20,000 indirectly.
Since its inception, Diamond In The Rough has positively influenced the lives of nearly 10,000 girls and families, fostering growth and empowerment.
