Our Story

Founded in 1997 by Angela Reyes in her living room, the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation emerged from a deep commitment to address violence and create opportunities for youth and families in Southwest Detroit. Initially focused on gang intervention, DHDC has expanded its services to empower the Latino community through education, personal development, and community engagement.

Impact

Each year, DHDC serves over 5,000 youth and adults, providing essential programs that foster self-empowerment and personal wealth. Significant milestones include removing 800 tattoos and distributing over $1 million in financial assistance during the COVID lockdown.
