Empowering Detroit's Entrepreneurs
The Detroit Development Fund (DDF) has been a cornerstone of the local entrepreneurship ecosystem for over 25 years. Established in 1996 as ShoreBank Enterprise Detroit, DDF has evolved into a certified nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to providing access to capital for small businesses across Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. With a commitment to relationship building and customer empowerment, DDF has disbursed over $25 million in small business loans, focusing on the long-term success and sustainability of entrepreneurs.
Impacting Lives and Communities
With a strong focus on economic and racial equality, DDF has ensured that over 90% of its loans support Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurs of color, and women-owned businesses. The launch of the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund (EOCF) in 2016, supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and JP Morgan Chase, has further enhanced DDF's ability to provide critical funding to underserved communities. To date, DDF has facilitated over $18 million in loans to BIPOC entrepreneurs, creating and retaining over 8,900 jobs in the City of Detroit.
