Our Story

Founded in 1981 by Dr. Joseph Patterson, Desert Survivors began with a vision to provide adults with disabilities the opportunity for meaningful work. Starting with just five employees, the organization has grown to offer integrated supported employment through a native plant nursery and commercial landscaping services. This initiative not only fosters dignity and purpose but also enhances the lives of those involved.

Impact

Desert Survivors empowers adults with disabilities by providing jobs that build relationships, self-esteem, and a sense of self-worth. The integration of horticultural therapy into employment services promotes well-being while supporting environmental sustainability through native plant sales.
