Desai Foundation

Our Story

Founded in 1997 by Samir A. Desai and Nilima Desai, the Desai Foundation is dedicated to giving back to the communities that shaped them. With a focus on transformative initiatives in Metro-Boston, Morningside Heights, Harlem, and rural Gujarat, India, the foundation empowers women and children through health and livelihood programs. The belief is that real solutions come from within the community, driving deep change and restoring dignity.

Impact

Over 9 million people have been positively impacted by the foundation's programs, reaching more than 3,300 communities. With over 61,000 volunteer hours donated, the foundation has produced over 6.9 million sanitary napkins and provided vocational training to more than 29,600 women.
