St Vincent de Paul Society of Des Moines
EIN: 42-6021808 · Windsor Heights, IA
Our Story
Since 1924, the Des Moines Council of St Vincent de Paul Society has been a beacon of hope for the community of Central Iowa. Originally starting in a small location, the organization has grown significantly, moving to its current facility on 6th Avenue in 1956. Following a roof collapse in 2009, leadership seized the opportunity to expand services, enhancing the building to accommodate a food, clothing, and hygiene pantry, an Adult Basic Education Center, and an employment preparation program. In 2016, a partnership with local organizations led to the opening of a Southside location, addressing food deserts and providing essential support services.

Over the years, SVdP has provided over $1,500,000 in charity, serving more than 120,000 individuals with vital resources such as education, food, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance.
