Our Story

Founded by Imadé Nibokun, Depressed While Black addresses the critical lack of mental health resources for Black individuals. After her own struggles with depression, Imadé established this nonprofit in July 2020 to provide Black-affirming personal care items and advocacy for psychiatric patients of African descent.

Impact

Since its inception, Depressed While Black has donated over 300 Black Beauty Supply Kits and thousands of personal care items to psychiatric facilities, significantly enhancing the dignity and care of Black patients during their treatment.
