Denver Children’s Home
EIN: 84-0404239 · Denver, CO
Our Story
Founded in 1876, the Denver Children’s Home began as the Denver Orphans Home, established by The Ladies Relief Society to care for orphans brought to Colorado for railroad and mining work. Recognizing the urgent need for a dedicated facility, Margaret Evans, wife of territorial Governor John Evans, opened the Home with the support of prominent community members. By 1883, the first residence was built, and within days, it was home to 40 children. Over the years, the Home has evolved, moving to its current location in 1902 and focusing exclusively on children who have suffered severe abuse or neglect.
Our Impact
Denver Children’s Home helps kids who have survived trauma, neglect, and abuse confront serious mental health challenges.
