About Deck The Chairs

Founded in 2013, Deck The Chairs (DTC) was created to enhance the winter holiday experience at Jacksonville Beaches. Inspired by the iconic lifeguard chairs, DTC decorates and displays these chairs to celebrate local artistry and community spirit. The inaugural exhibit, organized by founder Kurtis Loftus and 18 local businesses, ignited a renewed holiday spirit and raised funds for Volunteer Lifeguards. Since receiving non-profit status in 2014, DTC has expanded its exhibit space and programming, showcasing local artists and providing a platform for youth arts education.

Impact of Deck The Chairs

Each year, DTC presents over 24 holiday stage programs featuring more than 1,000 young performers from the region. This initiative supports youth arts through public/private partnerships and funds a free, 6-week exhibit with 60 beautifully decorated lifeguard chairs. The event attracts over 120,000 residents and visitors, generating significant economic impact and national recognition.
