Our Story

Deaf Kids Code was founded by Shireen Hafeez, a passionate advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing community. After her son was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, Shireen dedicated herself to improving educational policies and career opportunities for deaf individuals. Recognizing the growing importance of technology skills in the job market, she envisioned a program that would equip deaf and hard of hearing students with essential computer science knowledge. Since 2015, Deaf Kids Code has been committed to providing equitable access to computer science education through workshops, partnerships with schools, and curriculum development.
