Deaf Action Center
EIN: 75-1575599 · Dallas, TX
Our Story
Founded in 1975 by John and Elizabeth Criswell, Deaf Action Center (DAC) was established to fill a critical gap in services for deaf and hard of hearing adults in Dallas. Elizabeth, a child of deaf adults, recognized the need for a safe space where seniors could gather and receive essential support. Over the years, DAC has evolved, culminating in the opening of a new building in 2017 that houses affordable housing and serves as a community gathering place.
Impact
DAC serves thousands of deaf and hard of hearing community members annually, providing vital resources and support through its senior center, advocacy team, and interpreting services.
