DC Action

Our Story

DC Action for Children was born from the merger of two prominent advocacy organizations dedicated to the well-being of children and youth in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1992, DC Action for Children has a rich history of providing data analysis and policy leadership on critical issues affecting the youth. In 2004, the DC Alliance of Youth Advocates emerged as a coalition aimed at promoting healthy and productive adulthood for young people. In 2021, these two organizations united under a new strategic plan to form a stronger, independent entity known as DC Action.

DC Action employs research and a racial equity lens to dismantle barriers hindering children from achieving their full potential. By uniting advocates across the District, the organization strives for a shared vision of a thriving childhood in D.C.
