Our Story
Daya was founded in response to a tragic murder-suicide in Fort Bend County in 1996, highlighting the urgent need for culturally sensitive support for South Asian women affected by domestic violence. A group of immigrant women established a volunteer helpline, leading to the formal incorporation of Daya as an organization dedicated to empowering survivors through culturally specific services.
Impact
Daya empowers South Asian survivors of domestic and sexual violence through culturally specific services and community education to end the cycle of abuse.
