Our Story

The Davisville Free Library began its journey in 1917 as a humble reading room, initiated by a dedicated local school teacher in Davisville, Rhode Island. Initially, the library's collection was built through generous book donations from the community. In 1919, a library committee was formed, and with the support of the Dyer family, a parcel of land was donated, paving the way for the construction of the library building. Over the years, the library has seen a succession of passionate librarians, each contributing to its growth and evolution.

Impact on the Community

Today, the Davisville Free Library boasts a diverse collection of both current and classic resources, including a genealogy collection that preserves local family histories. It serves as a welcoming space for all ages, offering access to books, technology, and a vibrant community gathering place.
