About Summer House

In the summer of 1973, a local family, with support from the Yolo Council for Retarded Children, initiated a pilot program to provide a home for adults with developmental disabilities. This initiative, known as "Summer House," received overwhelming support from both parents and residents, leading to the establishment of a permanent home in Woodland, California, in March 1974. Over the years, Summer House, Inc. has evolved, now offering various programs including Independent Living and Supported Living, and operates two residences that support approximately 75 individuals in Yolo County.
