Our Story

Founded in 1935 by Elizabeth Murray, Goodwill of Greater Washington has a rich history rooted in the philosophy of providing a hand up, not a hand out. Inspired by the original Goodwill Industries International established in 1902, this organization has dedicated itself to transforming lives through job training and employment services. With 21 retail stores and a commitment to workforce development, Goodwill of Greater Washington continues to make a significant impact in the lives of individuals facing barriers to employment.
