Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. (DIBS) was founded in 1992 as a dedicated volunteer organization focused on preserving the island's vital habitats for both resident and migratory birds. Since initiating its conservation program in 2000, DIBS has successfully acquired 55 parcels of land, totaling approximately 16.5 acres, to ensure quality stopover habitats for these birds.
