Our Story

In 1964, a contest sparked the idea to honor the Danish heritage of Greenville, leading to the first Danish Festival on August 18, 1965. This vibrant community event, organized by a dedicated Board of Directors and volunteers, has grown to attract over 55,000 attendees each year. Since becoming a non-profit organization in 1968 and achieving 501c3 status in 2015, the festival continues to thrive, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the area.

Impact

The Danish Festival fosters community spirit and celebrates Danish heritage, drawing large crowds and promoting local culture.
