Our Story
In 1964, a contest sparked the idea to honor the Danish heritage of Greenville, leading to the first Danish Festival on August 18, 1965. This vibrant community event, organized by a dedicated Board of Directors and volunteers, has grown to attract over 55,000 attendees each year. Since becoming a non-profit organization in 1968 and achieving 501c3 status in 2015, the festival continues to thrive, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the area.
