Our Story

Founded in 1995 as a pilot program for the Downtown Multi-Arts Festival, DANCE NOW NYC launched independently in 1997. The organization is dedicated to making dance accessible to the public through unconventional, all-inclusive events. By promoting today’s dance makers, DANCE NOW NYC provides unique opportunities for artistic expression and audience engagement, celebrating a wide range of dance genres and serving diverse communities, including ethnic minorities, BIPOC artists, the LGBTQ community, and individuals with disabilities.

Impact

DANCE NOW NYC has presented over 1000 NYC artists in its annual signature series, the DN Festival, creating new audiences that reflect the diversity of the artists.
