Our Story

Founded in 1996 by Vivian Little, Dance Fremont emerged from a vision to provide quality dance education to all, regardless of body type or background. After years of witnessing exclusion in dance studios, Little, alongside co-director Mary Reardon, established a welcoming environment under the Aurora Bridge in Fremont. The studio transitioned to a nonprofit organization in 2019 under the leadership of Karena Birk, ensuring a commitment to equity and inclusion in dance.

Our Impact

Dance Fremont is dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers in the dance community. By offering tuition scholarships and pay-what-you-can classes, the organization makes dance accessible to all, particularly those affected by systemic racism. The focus on racial equity and justice for marginalized communities is at the heart of its mission, fostering a diverse and inclusive space for dancers of all ages.
