Our Story

Founded in 1974 by Sherri Delaney and Anne Tracey, the Danbury Animal Welfare Society Inc (DAWS) began with a mission to enhance the lives of dogs at the Danbury pound. Over the years, this mission has expanded to include the care and adoption of stray and feral cats, making a significant impact in the community.

DAWS has successfully rescued and rehabilitated countless animals, providing shelter, medical care, and adoption opportunities, which has greatly reduced the number of homeless pets in the area.
