Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot

Our Story

On November 22nd, 1984, a small 5k race with just 74 runners raised $520 for the WGN Good Neighbor Food Drive. This humble beginning sparked a movement that has grown exponentially over the years. By 2023, the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot welcomed 8,004 runners, celebrating 40 years of community spirit and generosity. Each year, more participants join in the fun, helping to raise funds to feed our neighbors in need. To date, nearly $4 million has been donated to combat hunger in DuPage County, providing over four million meals to those in need.
