Our Story
In the early 1980s, a dedicated group from First Presbyterian Church in Dallas recognized the need for quality childcare in their neighborhood, which was then a mix of the Farmers Market and low-income housing. In 1983, the Dallas First Presbyterian Church Developmental Day School was chartered, opening its doors in 1984 to serve working families, especially those facing financial challenges. Over the years, the Day School has expanded from 40 children in six classrooms to a capacity of 150 students in 13 classrooms at the Drane Early Childhood Center. In 2023, the school proudly received a four-star rating from the Texas Workforce Commission's Texas Rising Star Program, a testament to its commitment to excellence. Recent developments include an urban playscape and a new Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 STEAM Lab, with plans to launch a kindergarten classroom focused on STEAM and project-based instruction.
