Food Insecurity

Our Story

The D300 Food Pantry was founded in 2015 by Craig Raddatz, who recognized the pressing need for a school-based food pantry within Community Unit School District 300. Officially opening in August 2016, this volunteer-run initiative serves families and employees of the sixth largest school district in Illinois, focusing on those in eight Title I schools.

Impact

Currently, the pantry supports an average of 125 to 130 families each week, with over 700 families registered. Since June 2023, there has been a remarkable 40% increase in service, with over 20,037 pounds of food collected to provide essential resources to the community.

Why Donate?

Every dollar donated translates to an impressive $8 in buying power at the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Your generosity is crucial in keeping the pantry stocked and fulfilling its mission of feeding children and families in need.
