Our Story

Cultuvue, founded by James and LaToya Carey, emerged from a desire to combat the negative imagery of Black individuals in media. This initiative began with a simple Google search that revealed a troubling trend of predominantly negative representations of Black males. In response, Cultuvue was created to celebrate the richness of Black culture through impactful photography exhibitions.

Impact

Through its exhibitions and educational programs, Cultuvue has engaged thousands of attendees, particularly youth, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among diverse communities. The organization’s efforts have been recognized for challenging stereotypes and promoting visual literacy, significantly transforming the cultural narrative surrounding Black heritage.
