Culture for One was founded in 2010 by Linn Tanzman, who recognized the transformative power of the arts after inviting a young woman in foster care, Kadijah, to a Broadway show. This experience inspired Linn to expand access to cultural opportunities for children in New York City’s foster care system. From serving just 53 children in its inaugural year, Culture for One now impacts over 2,000 children annually through various programs designed to enrich their lives.
Each year, Culture for One serves more than 3,000 children in foster care, demonstrating that consistent engagement in the arts leads to significant improvements in their lives. The longer a young person participates in our programs, the more positive outcomes they experience.
