About Crosswalk Community Outreach

Crosswalk Community Outreach began from humble beginnings, inspired by Mark Blankenship and his church friends. With a simple vision to reach out to the community, they started serving food from the back of a pickup truck in Naples, Maine. What began with a few hot dogs and cans of food has blossomed into a vital resource for local families in need.

Our Journey

In the fall of 2008, Crosswalk Community Outreach approached the Naples town hall to secure a building for winter operations. With just a few loaves of bread and some produce, the outreach began to grow. Officially established as a nonprofit in February 2009, the organization has since expanded its reach, serving five area towns: Naples, Sebago, Harrison, Bridgton, and Casco.

Every other Monday, regardless of the weather, approximately 80 to 100 families receive food boxes filled with essential items such as meat, bread, and fresh produce. With the help of around 40 dedicated volunteers, Crosswalk Community Outreach has been able to distribute over 15,000 pounds of food each month, making a significant impact on the community.

Community Impact

Since its inception, Crosswalk Community Outreach has served over 400 local families, providing them with the basic necessities they need to thrive. The organization also honors local military families during the holidays, delivering Christmas cheer to brighten their season. This commitment to service is made possible through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, including Weston’s Farm, Hannaford, and Good Shepherd Food Bank.
