Our Story

Established in 2006, Crossing Paths Animal Rescue is a dedicated 501(c)(3) organization based in Blount County, Alabama. This compassionate initiative focuses on rescuing abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs, providing them with a second chance at life. Co-Founder and President Mary Ellen Tidwell actively visits local high-kill shelters, rescuing dogs that face imminent euthanasia. With a network of volunteers across Blount and Jefferson Counties, these dogs find temporary safe havens until they can be placed in loving forever homes.

Impact

In 2021, Crossing Paths Animal Rescue successfully adopted out 808 dogs, showcasing the effectiveness of its mission. By transferring over 300 dogs to partner organizations like Brandywine Valley SPCA, the visibility and adoption rates of these animals significantly increased. The organization prides itself on a high adoption retention rate, thanks to the diligent matching process conducted by dedicated volunteers.
