Our Story

In 1974, a dedicated group of visionaries gathered at the former Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church, united by a mission to provide safe and affordable housing for all. This vision led to the founding of CROSS Ministries, which has evolved over the years into CROSS Outreach. With a steadfast commitment to preventing homelessness, CROSS Outreach has expanded its services to include the community’s first Back-to-School Giveaway program in 1993 and a food pantry in partnership with the Des Moines Area Religious Council in 2010.
