Advocacy For Off-Leash Dog Walking Rights
Responsible Dog Ownership Education
Community Engagement in Dog-Related Recreation Issues

Our Story

Founded in 2001, the Crissy Field Dog Group was established by passionate local activists in response to the rescinding of the 1979 Pet Policy, which allowed off-leash dog walking in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2004, CFDG has tirelessly worked with stakeholders, including the GGNRA and Congressional representatives, to advocate for responsible dog ownership and restore off-leash rights.

Impact

CFDG has successfully mobilized community support and legal action to retain off-leash dog walking rights, influencing policy decisions and maintaining public access for dog owners. Educational programs and community engagement initiatives promote responsible dog ownership.
