About Crisis House
Established in 1970 in Santee, California, Crisis House was founded by a dedicated group of citizens who recognized the urgent need for emergency services for low-income, homeless, and underserved individuals. After relocating to Main Street in El Cajon, the organization expanded its services to support families and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1978. As the first community-based social service agency in East County San Diego, Crisis House is committed to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness.
Impact of Crisis House
With a remarkable success rate, 99% of individuals who leave transitional housing through Crisis House secure permanent housing. Annually, 508 individuals, including 330 children from 172 households, are lifted out of homelessness thanks to the organization’s trauma-informed, person-centered approach.
