Our Story

Crescent City Stage was founded in February 2020 by Elizabeth Elkins Newcomer, Jana Mestecky, and Michael A. Newcomer, driven by the belief that "without the artist, there is no art." With over 50 years of combined experience in the arts, education, and business, the founders aimed to create a theatrical organization that fosters a diverse environment for theatre to thrive. In July 2021, CCS received its official 501(c)(3) designation, and in September 2022, the inaugural production of Pantomime by Derek Walcott was launched. Crescent City Stage is committed to transforming the theatrical landscape, one production, one class, and one conversation at a time.
