Our Story

Founded in 1992, CASA Prince George’s County is part of a national movement that began in 1977 when Judge David Soukup recognized the urgent need for informed advocacy for children in foster care. With a mission to ensure that every child has a voice, CASA trains dedicated volunteers from the community to advocate for the best interests of these vulnerable youth. Today, CASA serves over 200 children annually, providing them with the support they need to navigate the foster care system.

Impact

Research shows that children with a CASA advocate are significantly more likely to find safe, permanent homes. In fact, over 80% of cases handled by CASA close to permanence, and 100% of youth served until age 21 are stably housed upon emancipation. This remarkable success rate highlights the critical role CASA plays in transforming the lives of children in foster care.
