Our Story
In 1999, David and Cynthia Heaton envisioned a home that would provide a nurturing environment for individuals with special needs. Their journey began while volunteering with a Young Life special needs group in Dallas, where they recognized the urgent need for supportive living arrangements for students transitioning out of high school. In 2001, the Heatons opened their home to three men with special needs, marking the inception of Cornerstone Ranch.
By 2004, the Heatons purchased 42 acres of serene land outside McKinney, Texas, and constructed a 10,000-square-foot ranch home. The first residents moved in 2006, and since then, the community has flourished. With a dedicated staff living on-site, Cornerstone Ranch has expanded its mission to include a non-residential day program, serving over 50 adults with special needs. This thriving community is committed to transforming the way the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex supports individuals with disabilities.
