Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter
EIN: 45-2853255 · Corinth, MS
Our Story
In 1995, a group of compassionate citizens opened a shelter in an abandoned building to combat the rising number of neglected and stray animals in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Initially known as the Humane Society, the organization faced significant challenges, including funding shortages and high euthanasia rates. In 2011, the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter, Inc. (CAAS) was established as a nonprofit to provide better care for animals and to end the euthanasia of adoptable pets. Through rescue, education, and community involvement, CAAS addresses pet overpopulation and enhances animal welfare.
Our Impact
Since becoming a no-kill shelter, CAAS has rescued over 10,000 healthy, adoptable companion animals, providing them with shelter, care, and loving homes. The organization also runs educational programs on responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter initiatives, significantly reducing local pet overpopulation.
