About the Cooper Young Community Association

The Cooper Young Community Association (CYCA) was established in March 1977 as a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the Cooper-Young neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee. With a strong volunteer base, CYCA has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including the creation of the Cooper Street Trestle Bridge and the organization of community events such as the Cooper-Young Festival and Beerfest. The association also published a monthly community newspaper, The Lamplighter, fostering communication and connection among residents.
