Our Story
Founded in 2003, Consumer Advocate Network (CAN) is a pioneering 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering individuals facing mental health challenges. Born from the historic Dixon Lawsuit of 1974, CAN emerged to ensure that consumers receive the community-based mental health services they deserve. With a commitment to advocacy, education, and support, CAN acts as a fiduciary agent, helping consumers understand their rights and navigate their recovery journey.
In response to the ongoing need for accessible mental health services, CAN stepped in to fill the gap left by delayed implementation of community-based care. Through mediation, mentoring, and treatment planning, CAN is transforming lives and fostering a supportive environment for recovery.
