Our Story

In the spring of 2016, a coalition of conservative leaders and criminal justice advocates came together to form Conservatives for Criminal Justice Reform. This organization was established to promote accountability and efficiency within public safety systems, aligning with core conservative values. The first major initiative was the successful campaign to raise the juvenile age in North Carolina, implemented in December 2019.

Impact

CCJR has made significant strides in reforming North Carolina's criminal justice system, including the successful passage of the Second Chance Act in 2020, which enhances opportunities for individuals reentering society.
