About Conservation and Education Reptile Rescue Inc

Founded with a passion for reptiles, Conservation and Education Reptile Rescue Inc (CERR) has dedicated itself to rescuing and rehabilitating unwanted or illegally kept reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and large fish. The journey began with Percy, a Burmese Python who was rescued from neglect, and who became a beloved ambassador for his species. Through educational outreach programs, CERR has reached tens of thousands of individuals, fostering a greater understanding of these often-misunderstood creatures.

The Story of Percy

In the Spring of 2002, Percy was brought into the care of CERR after being found in a cramped and unsuitable environment. With love and proper care, he transformed from a malnourished snake into a healthy, 13-foot ambassador for reptiles. Percy participated in over 5,000 outreach programs, captivating audiences and teaching them about the importance of snakes in our ecosystem. His gentle nature and impressive size made him a favorite among visitors at the Riverside Reptiles Education Center, which officially opened its doors on October 3, 2020.

Sadly, Percy passed away on July 2, 2022, but his legacy lives on. CERR continues to rescue and rehabilitate reptiles, ensuring that they receive the care they need while educating the public about their vital role in nature.
