Conscious Impact

Our Story

Conscious Impact was founded in the wake of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal in April 2015. Co-founders Allen Gula, Orion Haas, and Juliette Maas witnessed the destruction firsthand while descending from Everest Base Camp. Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable rebuilding, they began delivering relief materials to rural communities, paving the way for long-term solutions.

Through their research, they discovered the Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs) developed by the Auroville Earth Institute, which became the cornerstone of their efforts in rural Nepal. In the village of Takure, where nearly all homes were destroyed, they built a volunteer camp and established vital community relationships. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey.

Our Impact

Since 2015, Conscious Impact has been dedicated to supporting sustainable agriculture in Takure and surrounding villages in Sindhupalchok, Nepal. With 99% of local community members engaged in agriculture, the organization focuses on reforestation, sustainable agroforestry, and permaculture. Each tree planted can provide local families with an additional annual income of up to USD 500, significantly enhancing their quality of life.

Why Donate?

Conscious Impact relies almost entirely on the fundraising efforts of dedicated volunteers. Without large grants or corporate sponsorships, 75% of every contribution directly supports community development programs in rural Sindhupalchok. The remaining 25% covers essential food and accommodations for volunteers. Every additional dollar raised beyond the initial goal is reinvested into these impactful programs.
