The Connecting Families Urea Cycle Disorders Foundation was born from a deeply personal journey of loss and hope. After the tragic passing of a newborn son due to a Urea Cycle Disorder, the founder faced the daunting reality of being a carrier of Ornithine TransCarbamylase Deficiency (OTC). This diagnosis not only brought immense grief but also a sense of isolation, as information about UCDs was scarce.

In 1999, the birth of a second son, Michael, reignited fears of history repeating itself. Despite the challenges, including a liver transplant, Michael's courageous fight ended too soon. However, the arrival of a daughter, Areilla, brought renewed hope. With advancements in medical knowledge and support, Areilla has thrived, showcasing the importance of community and awareness.

Through this foundation, the mission is clear: to connect families affected by Urea Cycle Disorders, providing them with the support and understanding that was once missing. The journey continues, fueled by faith, education, and the desire to bring hope to others facing similar challenges.
