Our Story

Connect Clermont emerged from a visionary initiative that began over 25 years ago, known as Clermont 2001. In October 1988, community leaders Ed Parish and Bill Over convened a group to discuss the future of Clermont County. This meeting sparked a year-long effort that engaged over 350 citizen-volunteers to create a comprehensive vision for the county's future. The resulting report, "Clermont 2001," called for collaboration among citizens, business leaders, elected officials, and community groups to pursue key economic development and quality-of-life initiatives.

In 2012, a new generation of leaders recognized the need for an updated strategic plan, leading to the launch of the Community Agenda project, supported by Duke Energy. This initiative involved 500 community members in over 50 conversations, identifying recurring values and themes that shaped 23 actionable goals centered around Jobs, Education, Health, and Vibrancy.

To implement these goals, Connect Clermont was established as a 501(c)(3) organization, ensuring that every resident's voice is heard and valued. The Board of Directors is dedicated to connecting community initiatives with resources, evaluating and granting funding for projects that align with the Agenda goals. Duke Energy has committed $750,000 over three years to support community projects, and the board continues to seek additional partnerships and resources.

Connect Clermont invites organizations in Clermont County to apply for grants, which are assessed based on their alignment with the 23 goals identified through the original Agenda for the Future initiative. The success of this initiative relies on the involvement of volunteers and community members who are passionate about making a difference.
